UPDATE: Man crushed to death while working on vehicle ID’d by Fresno coroner. Family seeks help

A man doing repair work on a car was killed early Sunday when the vehicle slipped off supports and fell on him, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Deputies responded about 9 a.m. in the 4600 block of North Vagedes Avenue, near the major intersections of North Fruit and West Gettysburg avenues. But Lt. Edward Essegian told The Bee that it might have happened earlier, several hours before a passerby noticed the accident and notified authorities.

Sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, and Fresno police were sent to the scene to answer a call for help at the home, where the victim, in his 40s, was working on the car in a driveway. There was no immediate information about how the accident occurred.
