Driver runs stop sign, hits truck in fatal crash in rural Fresno County, CHP says
A man was killed in a crash when a driver failed to stop at a stop sign Wednesday in rural Fresno County, the California Highway Patrol said.
A man in his 40s was the passenger of a Ford truck going east on Manning Avenue as it approached James Road southwest of Tranquillity at about 9:30 a.m., Officer Mike Salas said.
A service truck was headed north on James Road at the same time but the driver failed to stop, CHP said, and collided with the Ford, which did not have a stop sign.
The service truck hit the passenger side of the Ford, which veered into a field, CHP said.
The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP said. The Ford driver had moderate injuries.
The driver of the service truck was not injured, CHP said.
