One dead, another with serious injuries after a quad crash in Fresno County

California Highway Patrol

A woman was killed Saturday afternoon in Fresno County after colliding with a boulder while riding a quad.

The collision happened at 4:17 p.m. at Deerbrook and Artesia Lanes in Yokuts Valley.

CHP said the 22-year-old rider was in a dirt field on a quad when she collided with a boulder. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

An 18-year-old passenger was injured and taken to a local hospital with major injuries.

CHP Sgt. Nicholas Norton said both riders weren’t wearing a helmet.

Norton said it’s unknown if the boulder was there prior because of the weather.

Alcohol or drugs are not suspected in the collision.
