Police looking for vehicle possibly tied to death of Clovis woman who was found on sidewalk

Clovis Police

Clovis Police are looking for a vehicle believed to be in the area where a woman was found dead on a sidewalk early March 4.

Barbara Rote, 67 of Clovis, was found on a sidewalk near Temperance and Sierra avenues, next to a dog that was on a leash. Rote was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives on Thursday said Rote died from blunt force trauma, but it’s unknown what caused her injuries.

Detectives reviewed surveillance videos from several homes and spoke to neighbors.

Video from a nearby home shows a red 4-door Toyota Corolla on the street at the time Rote was walking with her dog between 6:45 a.m.-7:10 a.m., police said.

An autopsy was performed, but detectives continue to investigate the suspicious death.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 559-324-3495 or can remain anonymous by calling Crimestoppers at 559-498-7867.
