Coroner ID’s man who was struck and killed while walking in Fresno roadway

A pedestrian who was struck and killed Tuesday night while walking in the roadway in southwest Fresno has been identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

He was ID’d Friday afternoon as Madison Allen Jr., 67, of Fresno.

The fatality took place at 9:24 p.m. on Elm Avenue near California Avenue, police said.

A woman was driving a Nissan Altima northbound, approaching California Avenue when she struck the victim.

The driver was unable to avoid colliding with Allen Jr., who apparently was crossing the roadway from east to west.

Allen Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency workers. The driver remained at the scene and did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
