Update: Pedestrian killed on Blackstone identified. He was struck by 2 vehicles

A man killed while walking across Blackstone Avenue Tuesday evening was identified Wednesday by the Fresno County Coroner as Colin Volpe, 41, of Fresno.

Volpe was struck by two vehicles and died at the scene, Fresno Police reported.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. on Blackstone Avenue near Holland Avenue.

Lt. Leslie Williams said the man was walking in an eastbound direction into the southbound lanes of traffic and did not have the right of way.

A driver of a white van struck the man despite swerving to try to avoid a collision, police added.

The man fell onto the street and was then hit by another vehicle, a silver sedan.

Williams said the van driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, but the sedan driver sped away and was being sought by police.
