Man on motorcycle dies after losing control and crashing in Madera foothills, CHP says

A San Joaquin man died in a motorcycle crash on a rural road in the Madera County foothills, the California Highway Patrol said Friday.

The 69-year-old was riding a 2021 KTM 850 while wearing protective motorcycle gear about 5:30 p.m. Thursday on a winding section of Road 209 south of Road 406, CHP said in a news release.

Officers said Friday they continued to look into why the man headed south on Road 209 lost control of the motorcycle, and left the roadway to the east before he was ejected from the KTM 850.

Traffic in the area was light at the time of the fatal crash and the weather was clear and dry, CHP said. The area has many curves and bends.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. His name was withheld pending the notification of next of kin, CHP said.
