Woman killed after vehicle hits her on a Fresno roadway. Another vehicle may be involved

Fresno Police

A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in Fresno early Saturday morning.

Fresno Police Lt. Mike Gebhart said officers responded to the scene at 12:42 a.m. at Belmont and Echo avenues about a person who was struck.

When officers arrived, they located a woman in her 50s on the roadway. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gebhart said the driver remained on scene and was cooperating, but added another vehicle may have struck the woman and took off. He said there is evidence that suggested that.

No description of the vehicle was given as officers are canvassing for surveillance video.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit was investigating the death.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 559-621-7000.
