Wrong-way motorcyclist badly injured in hit-and-run collision near downtown Fresno

Fresno Police

A motorcyclist in his 20s was critically injured early Sunday after a black SUV struck him in downtown Fresno near Tuolumne Street and Highway 99.

Fresno Police Lt. Sean Biggs said the motorcyclist was traveling west on Tuolumne at about 1 a.m., going the wrong direction on the one-way street, when the black SUV hit the motorcycle.

“The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the roadway,” Biggs said. “The black SUV pulled over to the side of the road and then left the scene.”

Biggs said police found the motorcyclist lying on the ground next to his mangled motorcycle. He was conscious and breathing and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

The crash is under investigation.
