Harley rider crossing double yellow lines killed on Highway 198 near Visalia, CHP says

A 27-year-old Visalia man was killed on Highway 198 east of Visalia on Saturday, when his Harley-Davidson motorcycle collided with a Jeep.

The crash happened just before 8:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol reported in an update Monday morning.

The motorcycle was headed west on 198 when it struck the Jeep at the intersection of the highway and Eaton Road. The Jeep had slowed and was turning left off the highway, the CHP said.

The motorcycle rider had crossed double yellow lines and had been passing traffic as the crash occurred, the CHP said.

Medical personal were dispatched to the scene and the man was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center where he died, the CHP said.

His identity is being withheld pending notification.
