Motorcycle rider killed in collision in Madera County. CHP said he collided with a rock

A Fresno County man riding a Harley-Davidson in Oakhurst crashed and was killed Sunday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash.

The man, who has not been identified by the Madera County Coroner’s Office, is a 35-year-old from Laton, the California Highway Patrol said.

The incident happened at 1:30 p.m. on northbound Highway 41 at River Falls Road.

The motorcycle rider was traveling at an unknown rate of speed when for unknown reasons failed to turn and the rider traveled off the road in a westerly direction, CHP said. The rider was ejected from the Harley and collided with the rock embankment.

The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. CHP said the rider was wearing a helmet.

Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
