53 products recalled by international food producer based in Fresno. Here are the items

Lyon Magnus, an international food and beverage manufacturing company that’s based in Fresno, is recalling 53 products because of potential microbial contamination, the Food and Drug Administration announced.

The recall includes a variety of products — from certain almond milks to liquid coffees to protein shakes.

And many of the brands impacted by the recall can be bought locally and often are prominently displayed in groceries stores, including Premier Protein, Glucerna and Oatly.

The driving force behind the recall are concerns that some of the products might be contaminated with the organism Cronobacter sakazakii, which can cause vomiting, fever and urinary tract infections among the common symptoms. In more serious cases, Cronobacter sakazakii can cause bloodstream infectons and meningitis.

The FDA, however, said, no illnesses had been reported as of Friday.

“Preliminary root cause analysis shows that the products did not meet commercial sterility specifications,” the FDA wrote in its report.

The recall impacts products that have a matching lot number and “best by date.”

People who have purchased the recalled products are asked to throw them out or return them for a refund.
