Victim in fatal head-on collision in northwest Fresno ID’d. He died at the scene
The Fresno County Coroner on Monday reported that Jim Fuentes, 57, was the person killed Friday night in a head-on collision on North Fruit Avenue and Tenaya Way.
The collision took place just after 9 p.m. as Fuentes was southbound in the left lane of Fruit in a Scion. An unidentified 15-year-old driver was northbound in a Nissan Altima.
The California Highway Patrol said the Scion drifted into the northbound lanes and collided with the Nissan.
Fuentes, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, the CHP said. There was no immediate information available Monday about Fuentes’ home city.
The Scion driver was treated for minor injuries at a hospital. There were no other occupants in either car.
