UPDATE: Power was restored at 7:15 p.m. for the 2,346 PG&E customers that were without power since 3:28 p.m.. The cause of the outage is unknown.

Close to 2,500 PG&E customers were without power Friday afternoon near Fresno State.

The power outage started at 3:28 p.m. The cause of the outage was not immediately known.

Crews worked to restore power in an area that extends from East Ashlan and Willow avenues to East Shaw and Cedar avenues. At least 2,346 customers were without power, PG&E said.

Power was expected to be restored by 7:30 p.m., according to the PG&E website.
