Update: Ashlan Avenue at Highway 41 in Fresno open again following hit-and-run collision
UPDATE: Ashlan Avenue was reopened around 4:30 p.m. Friday after a police investigation following a hit-and-run.
The traffic light at the scene at Ashland and Highway 41, however, will be out until repaired. Stop sign right-of-way rules apply, police said.
The driver who fled the scene on foot had not been found, police said.
ORIGINAL STORY: Two vehicles were involved in a hit-and-run collision Friday afternoon just off Highway 41 in central Fresno.
An occupant of one of the vehicles fled the crash scene at Ashlan Avenue and Highway 41 on foot.
The second vehicle caught fire after the incident, which occurred around 2:15 p.m. Fresno police officer Felipe Uribe said no one was inside, but the two victims were taken to a local hospital with complaints of pain.
As of 3 p.m., eastbound Ashlan was closed at the highway and drivers were being routed onto southbound 41.
Westbound Ashlan was closed at Fresno Street.
Both the southbound and northbound 41 off-ramps at Ashlan remained open, though drivers exiting northbound 41 at Ashlan were being routed to Fresno Street.
