Cal Fire making inroads on new foothills fire in Fresno County. House Fire is contained

Forward progress has been stopped on a wildfire in Fresno County foothills, Cal Fire said Sunday.

The blaze called the Loper Fire scorched about 40 acres of land near Loper Valley and Nicholas Road, and is about 20% contained, Cal Fire said.

Firefighters first reported it just before 1 p.m. near Prather.

Fire engines and firefighters remained on scene throughout the day and overnight to mop up the hot spots and strengthen control lines, Cal Fire said in a Facebook post. No injuries to firefighters nor residents were reported.

Another fire about four miles away called the House Fire has been completely contained, according to Cal Fire, after it burned 171 acres.

Officials issued evacuation warnings because of the House Fire. A couple of firefighters are recovering from injuries related to that incident.
