Fresno County foothills wildfire, second in as many days, extinguished quickly
Fire crews responded to a new wildfire in northeast Fresno County on Thursday, just a day after starting to battle one in the same region.
The call for fire crews came in before 1 p.m. for a blaze near Frazier and Calkins roads, north of Prather, according to Cal Fire Fresno County Battalion Chief Dan Urias.
The fire was under control and extinguished at around 4 p.m. with growth stopped at two acres. One motor home was damaged during the blaze.
Urias said fire was caused by a lawn mower used in dry grass.
About 24 hours earlier, Fresno County’s Cal Fire unit started battling flames in the area of Tollhouse Road and Van Vleet in northeast Fresno County.
That 171-acre fire burning grass and oak trees and dubbed the House Fire was about 60% contained through the most recent update on Thursday morning, according to Cal Fire. The containment was about 70% late Thursday afternoon.
