Update: Coroner identifies man killed in head-on, two-vehicle crash on Fresno County road
A 45-year-old man was killed Sunday night in a head-on collision in Fresno County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash happened near Lake and American avenues southwest of Kerman about 8:30 p.m., the CHP said.
The man was driving east on American in a 2009 Nissan Altima and allowed it to veer into the other lane, CHP said. The car collided head-on with a Mini Cooper driven by a 46-year-old woman.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified by Monday afternoon by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Eliseo Vasquez, 45, with an “unknown city of residence, possibly Kerman.”
The woman was flown to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries, according to CHP.
Vasquez was not wearing a seatbelt though the woman was, CHP said.
