The latest: Name of boy, 2, killed after being hit by truck while with family at Lost Lake park is released

A toddler was struck and killed by a truck at the Lost Lake Recreation Area just north of Fresno on Saturday evening.

The toddler was on foot and was hit by a truck at slow speed around 6:45 p.m., California Highway Patrol Sgt. Joseph Bianchi said.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was cooperating with investigators. The driver called 911 immediately, Bianchi said.

Bianchi said there was no indication that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the incident: “Seems like it was just an unfortunate incident,” he said.

Bianchi said the toddler, who was approximately 2 1/2 years old, was with a family that had been at the park and was packing up to leave and thought the child was already inside their vehicle.
