Police: Driver cited on suspicion of DUI after colliding with Modesto fire engine

A 6-year-old boy died in a solo-vehicle crash Friday east of Visalia, the California Highway Patrol said.

The Tulare boy was in a 2002 Dodge Neon on Highway 198 east of Eggers Drive a few minutes after midnight before the crash, according to CHP.

The driver, 22-year-old Dylan Conelly, allowed the car to drift and leave the roadway as it was westbound in Three Rivers, CHP said.

It’s unclear why the car left the roadway, CHP said, but it hit a roadway sign and a tree before falling down an embankment.

Conelly suffered minor injuries as did an unnamed 3-year-old girl, CHP said. Another passenger, 24-year-old Selena Ramos, had moderate injuries, officers said.

The boy was flown to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, but succumbed to his injuries, CHP said.
