Pedestrian running across Highway 180 in Fresno is struck by multiple vehicles, CHP says

A pedestrian died Saturday evening after a collision on a Fresno highway.

The collision happened at 8:43 p.m. on westbound 180, just north of the Cedar on-ramp.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Mike Salas said the pedestrian was struck by multiple vehicles after running across the highway, northbound on 180. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Salas said the initial vehicle that struck the pedestrian fled the scene. The make and model of the vehicle is not immediately known.

At least five vehicles stopped and called CHP and gave their statements.

Lanes Nos. 1-3 are closed while the No. 4 lane is open to allow traffic through. Salas said those lanes will remain closed until 11:30 p.m.
