Woman hit and killed by train in Fresno. Palm Avenue was closed for investigation

A woman was hit and killed by a train in central Fresno on Monday.

It happened around 4:50 p.m. on the tracks at Van Ness and Jeanne avenues.

Fresno police Lt. Skye Leibee said witness told officers the woman stepped onto the tracks. She appeared to be homeless, Leibee said.

Palm Avenue was closed for the investigation.
