Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run in Fresno. CHP suspects a ‘lifted’ truck was involved

Officers are looking for a truck they believe was involved in a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian on Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Emergency responders told officers they found a 33-year-old Fresno woman near Valentine and Floradora avenues about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, CHP said.

The emergency responders rendered life-saving efforts, but the woman died, CHP said.

Officers said the investigation is preliminary, but CHP believes the woman was the victim of a hit-and-run involving a dark-colored GMC Sierra truck model from between 1999 and 2007 that had tinted windows and headlight lenses that were also dark, according to a news release.

CHP said it was not clear why the woman was in the roadway or what caused the crash.

The truck would have damage from the crash on the left front bumper and headlight, CHP said. A witness described the truck as “lifted,” according to the release.

If anyone has information, they are urged by officers to contact the Fresno Area CHP at 559-262-0400 or Valley Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
