74-year-old killed in 3-car crash in dense fog on Shaw Avenue ID’d by coroner

The 74-year-old man killed in a three-car crash on Shaw Avenue Friday night has been identified by the Fresno County coroner’s office as Jon Luis Endara of Fresno.

Endara was traveling in the eastbound lanes on Shaw shortly after 8 p.m. at an unknown rate of speed and attempted to make a left turn onto Bishop Avenue. Endara, driving a Chevy Camaro, turned directly into the path of a Honda Accord traveling westbound on Shaw. The Camaro collided with the bumper of the Honda, spun and was struck by a Cadillac sedan traveling westbound, behind the Honda. The impact caused the Camaro to overturn, coming to a rest on the shoulder of the road.

The California Highway Patrol and medical emergency personnel responded to a call of an injury collision, and Endara was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers in the Honda and Cadillac were uninjured.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision, CHP said, but there was dense fog in the area at the time. The CHP continues to investigate the fatal collision.
