Fresno man dies in three-car crash along Shaw Avenue on a foggy Friday night

A 74-year-old Fresno man died in a three-car crash Friday night west of Fresno, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash occurred about 8 p.m. when a Honda Accord and Cadillac sedan were headed west on Shaw Avenue. At the same time, a Chevrolet Camaro was headed east.

The driver of the Camaro attempted to turn left onto Bishop Avenue directly in the path of the Honda, colliding with the front bumper of the Honda. This caused the Camaro to spin, hit the Cadillac and overturn, coming to rest on its roof on the shoulder of the road, the CHP reported.

The driver of the Camaro was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said. No one else was injured.

While it’s unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, according to the Highway Patrol report, the investigation is ongoing. There was dense fog in the area at the time.

The identity of the person killed was not released pending notification of family.

Both the Honda and the Cadillac drivers, ages 20 and 59, respectively, are from Mendota, the CHP stated.
