Motorcyclist dies after colliding with car in Madera County, Highway Patrol says

A motorcyclist died Saturday afternoon after a collision with a car in Madera County.

The crash happened at 1:30 p.m. at Road 415 and Highway 41 in Coarsegold.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Dusten Dimmer said the motorcycle rider was going west on Road 415 at an unknown speed when a woman pulled out to make a left turn to go east and the rider struck the left rear area of the Prius.

The rider, who is from Coarsegold, was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman complained of chest pain.

The crash is still under investigation. An autopsy will determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor on the part of the motorcyclist.
