Elderly woman struck by vehicle while trying to cross street in southeast Fresno
A woman in her late 60s was in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross as street in southeast Fresno.
Officers were called to the area of Kings Canyon Road, just west of Willow Avenue, around 7 p.m. of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Police found the woman lying in the road.
According to Fresno police Lt. Paul Cervantes, the woman appeared to be crossing north on Kings Canyon in an area with out a cross walk.
The woman had made it to the last lane of traffic when she stepped into the path of a vehicle traveling west, Cervantes added.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the woman remained on scene and provided medical aid for the victim, Cervantes said. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol appear to be a factor in the collision.
The woman was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition.
