A 27-year old Merced man has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash south of Fresno on Monday.
Daniel Davis was stopped in the center median of Highway 99 near Floral Avenue when he was rear-ended by a Ford F250. According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the truck braked too late and swerved into the median to avoid hitting traffic that had slowed in front of him.
Davis died at the scene.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, the CHP said, but the road was wet and there was heavy rain at the time. It is not known why Davis was stopped in the median.
