Evacuation order lifted after grass fire in Madera near Highway 99
An evacuation order was issued for a grass fire near Highway 99 in Madera on Monday afternoon.
The Madera County Sheriff’s Office sent out an alert at 2:59 p.m. that an evacuation order was in affect for the area east of Highway 99 at Avenue 17.
“There is an immediate threat to life,” the sheriff’s office said.
At around 5 p.m. the evacuation order was lifted in the area.
Roadblocks still remained in the area and the off ramp at Avenue 17 from the northbound Highway 99 will remain close.
