UPDATE: The main courthouse still without power and is likely to remain closed for part of the week.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Fresno County Superior Court main courthouse was temporarily closed Monday after the building lost power.

Court officials were not sure what caused the power outage, but crews were working on getting the power restored.

But with temperatures climbing as California weathered another day of the heat wave, court officials suspended operations at the main courthouse, 1100 Van Ness Avenue, for the entire day.

All other court locations continued to operate as scheduled.

“This action is being taken with the health and safety of the court employees, justice partners and the public in mind,” said Suzanne Abi-Rached, the court’s media coordinator.

Any matters set for Monday will be rescheduled and people will be notified of the new date.
