An 8-year-old girl who was rescued from the waters at Reedley Beach on Aug. 5 has died, a hospital official said on Tuesday.

Samantha Cruz-Pedro had been at Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera on life support after Reedley Fire crews — who were in the area for training — found and rescued the girl.

Manjeet Singh, 29, died while helping rescue two of three kids who had been swept away by a swift, cold current in the Kings River near Reedley Beach.
