Sanger man killed in collision at Highway 180 intersection

A Sanger man died in a two-car crash Wednesday night on Highway 180.

Jose Rodriguez-Gonzalez, 32, was identified as the person killed in the collision, east of Fresno and just north of Sanger.

The crash occurred just after 10 p.m.

The driver of a Nissan was going east on the highway approaching the intersection at Academy Avenue, according to the CHP. Gonzalez, in a Honda, drove north into the intersection and the Nissan struck the driver’s side of the Honda.

An investigation was ongoing into which car had the right of way. It also was unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene. The second driver suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
