Man dies after vehicle goes down embankment near downtown Fresno following crash
A man died Thursday afternoon following a two-car collision on a highway near downtown Fresno, the California Highway Patrol said.
Authorities responded to a collision around 1:15 p.m. when a silver Prius and silver Ford Mustang were traveling south on 41, just before O Street.
CHP Officer Axel Reyes said the Prius lost control and went off the side into a guardrail and went down an embankment, striking a tree. The man, who was the front-right passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman driver and a girl in the backseat sustained minor injuries.
The Ford Mustang had damage to the bumper. The four women inside the vehicle were not injured.
Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the crash, Reyes said.
The CHP is investigating what caused the crash.
