Three people died Tuesday night following a crash in Fresno County, the California Highway Patrol said.

The CHP received a 911 call of a collision between a PT Cruiser and a big rig carrying animal carcasses around 9:30 p.m. at West Manning and South Cornelia avenues near Raisin City.

Sgt. Matt Radke said the PT Cruiser was traveling north on Cornelia and the big rig was traveling on west on Manning when for unknown reasons the PT Cruiser failed to stop and collided with the big rig.

The crash victims were identified as Frank Sifuentes, 31; Pedro Gonzalez, 34; and Carlos Gonzalez, 34, all of Fresno. The Gonzalezes were related, the Fresno County Coroner’s Office said.

The big rig overturned and crushed the PT Cruiser killing the men.

A woman in the car and the big rig driver were taken to a hospital with major injuries, Radke said. They are both expected to survive.

Power lines were sheered off as a result of the collision.
