Young man drowns while celebrating birthday at Shaver Lake, deputies say

A San Bernardino County man drowned on his birthday at Shaver Lake, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.

Patrol deputies responded to a call of a possible drowning around 5 p.m. Tuesday in search of 19-year-old Jonathyn Bradford of Apple Valley.

Bradford went under water and never resurfaced, according to the sheriff’s office.

A sheriff’s sergeant in charge of the Dive Unit and Boating Enforcement Unit responded on his jet ski to help with the search.

Deputies located Bradford around 7 p.m., about 25 feet offshore from where his family was gathering.
