Fresno man, 36, drowns in San Joaquin River

A man died after drowning in the San Joaquin River, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to a report of someone missing at the river near Valley Children’s Healthcare about 6:15 p.m. Saturday, sheriff’s public-information officer Sarah Jackson said.

The man’s body was found at 7 p.m. with the help of the Fresno Police helicopter and the sheriff’s dive team.

On Sunday, following notification of family, he was identified as Martin G. Duran Ramirez, 36, of Fresno.
