Three hurt after fleeing through window during fire at vacant southeast Fresno office

Investigators continue to look into a Memorial Day weekend blaze that left three people hurt after they had to scramble out through a window at a vacant dental office in southeast Fresno.

The fire is believed to be connected to homeless activity on the property. The building was not connected to any utilities.

Flames broke out Sunday just before midnight at the boarded-up office near Clovis Avenue and Huntington Boulevard, Fresno Fire spokesman Shane Brown said.

Firefighters arrived to find three people suffering from burns and scrapes.

The people were inside the building when the fire blocked their way out, forcing them to escape through a window.

Witnesses said they heard a loud explosion and people were seen fleeing the area.

Damage estimates on the building were not available.
