Clovis bicyclist, 72, dies after collision with motorcyclist on Auberry Road

A 72-year-old Clovis man died Sunday afternoon after he moved into the path of a motorcycle while on his bicycle near Auberry and Millerton roads.

The man was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office on Monday as Steven Meunier.

The collision happened just before noon Sunday, California Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Mike Trenholm said.

Both were traveling south on Auberry, approaching Millerton, Trenholm said. The bicyclist apparently moved into the roadway and was hit by the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist, 39, from Fresno, suffered an arm injury.

Neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the crash, Trenholm said.

Both riders were wearing helmets. The road was closed for about 90 minutes.
