Central Valley Honor Flight, following national group, suspends upcoming trip

The Central Valley Honor Flight is the latest organization rearranging plans due to the coronavirus outbreak.

In a post on Facebook on Wednesday, the group said it was suspending its upcoming trip to Washington D.C. at the direction of the national Honor Flight Network.

“In consideration of the CDC’s guidance and the serious nature of the public health threat posed by COVID-19, the national board is issuing a mandatory suspension of all Honor Flight trips, effective immediately through at least April 30,” the statement reads.

The Central Valley Honor Flight was scheduled to leave out of Fresno, April 21.

Honor Flight Central Coast California, had a trip scheduled for April 20, according to the Honor Flight tour schedule.

“We’ve been so looking forward to taking our next group of deserving veterans to their memorials in April. Unfortunately, that special mission will have to wait because of our commitment to doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our veterans. Our dedicated team at Central Valley Honor Flight will look forward to the privilege of escorting our veterans to their memorials as soon as it is safe to do so.”

Central Valley Honor Flight has run 20 trips to D.C. since 2013. The last trip happened in September..

Early on Wednesday, the Peach Blossom Festival announced the cancellation of this year’s event.
