Kings County prisons report coronavirus spike in two weeks
Avenal State Prison had a spike in coronavirus cases over the last two weeks, according to data posted by the Kings County Department of Public Health on Sunday.
KCDPH reported 115 new cases in state prisons in the county bringing the total to 1,062.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation reported 273 cases at Avenal and 35 cases in Corcoran State Prison in the last 14 days. The total number in Avenal has increase to 1,878 and 353 in Corcoran.
Kings County added 27 coronavirus cases in the general population bringing the total to 3,672 since the start of the outbreak. recoveries remain at 2,244 with deaths at 42.
Fresno County had 209 additional cases as of Sunday bringing the total to 24,821, according to data from the California Department of Public Health. Deaths in Fresno County remain at 263.
