Fresno County adds 365 COVID-19 cases, extending string of big increases since mid-July
Fresno County added 365 coronavirus cases Sunday, increasing the county’s total COVID-19 infections to nearly 15,500, according to figures posted by the California Department of Public Health.
The latest accounting of positive results, which follows a multi-day increase of 644 reported early Saturday by the county and state, brings the total number of cases to 15,448.
State figures are through the previous day, but continue to show a steady surge since mid-July. After 183 new cases were reported for July 15, the lowest single-day total since has been 252 and the high 521.
There have been 10 days of 350 or more additional positive results in that stretch.
Elsewhere in the central San Joaquin Valley:
▪ Tulare County’s total with the state stood at 9,520, compared to the 9,454 reported in the county’s most recent update on Friday morning.
▪ Madera County’s total had climbed to 2,103; the latest county update, as of Thursday, showed 1,943 cases.
▪ Mariposa County, in its Sunday update, added one case to move to 57 overall, although 45 of those patients are now considered recovered.
▪ KIngs County — in an update late Sunday, its first since Friday — reported 28 additional cases and 2,633 total in the general community since the outbreak began; 45 more and 1,662 total in state prison facilities in Avenal and Corcoran; and an unchanged total of 158 in skilled nursing facilities.
