Another COVID-19 death reported in Fresno County as confirmed cases keep climbing
The number of coronavirus infections in Fresno County increased by 39 new cases as of late Tuesday, bringing the total number of infected patients to 984, according to county’s dashboard.
The county also recorded an additional death, bringing the total number of dead to 10.
No details on the latest patient to die were immediately available.
Of the total infections, 641 were active as of late Tuesday, while 333 had recovered and 140 patients were hospitalized. The number of patients in Fresno County who had recovered as of late Tuesday increased by 14 from Monday.
As of Tuesday, 411, or 41.8% of the positive cases, had been acquired through close contact, while 395, or 40.1%, were acquired through community spread or the source of infection was unknown. Another 134 cases, or 13.6% of the total, were under investigation to determine the origin of infection. Meanwhile 44 others, accounting for a 4.5% of the total, were related to travel, according to the county’s dashboard.
A total of 11,387 patients had been tested as of late Tuesday.
Elsewhere in the region
Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency announced two additional deaths Tuesday. A total of 52 patients in Tulare County have died from COVID-19. Tulare County has a total of 1,241 coronavirus infections, with about more than 80 new cases Tuesday.
Madera County on Tuesday reported having no additional positive cases. On Monday, two new cases were recorded, bringing the county’s total to 69.
Merced County on Tuesday reported an additional death, bringing the total number of dead to four. The county also recorded an additional four positive cases, pushing the total to 177.
Kings and Mariposa counties hadn’t yet released its updated COVID-19 figures late Tuesday.
