Two more COVID-19 deaths reported in Tulare County, where total cases top 1,100

Two more people in Tulare County have died of complications related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the county’s health department reported Sunday.

Sixty-one new positive test results for the coronavirus also were posted by the Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency in its daily update.

It brings the county’s total to 1,140 cases with 48 deaths since the county’s first cases were reported in mid-March. The total number of recovered patients increased to 171.

Tulare County has the highest number of cases and deaths among the six-county central San Joaquin Valley region.

The two additional deaths increase the region’s total to 63.

Fresno County had not provided an update Sunday from its Saturday report of 44 new positive test results that brought the total there to 885 confirmed cases with 572 of them still active.

Kings County reported 12 new cases Sunday night, raising its total to 287.

Across the six-county area, case counts as reported of Sunday afternoon were:

  • Fresno County: 885 cumulative cases, nine deaths, 313 recovered.
  • Kings County: 287 cases, one death, 50 recovered.
  • Madera County: 67 cases, two deaths, 40 recovered.
  • Mariposa County: 15 cases, no deaths, 12 recovered.
  • Merced County: 163 cases, three deaths, 91 recovered.
  • Tulare County: 1,140 cases, 48 deaths, 171 recovered.
