Fresno County coronavirus cases move past 200 mark
Fresno County surpassed 200 coronavirus cases Saturday with the reporting of 10 new positive tests for COVID-19.
The breakdown of the 201 total cases includes 36 that are travel-related, 60 that were the result of close contact, 70 that are community-spread/unknown and 35 still under investigation.
Figures updated on the health department’s website also show 49 of the 201 cases involve patients being hospitalized at some point.
There have been five deaths in the county and 31 people have recovered (those who have been laboratory cleared or cleared by non-laboratory methods).
There were 18 new cases in the county on Friday, continuing the trend in recent days of daily double-digit increases.
New numbers reported elsewhere in the central San Joaquin Valley, including 24 more in Tulare County, earlier Saturday sent total cases in the region past 500.
Kings County reported its first death Saturday, posting an early-evening update to its usual morning survey. There are 10 total cases there. Merced County reported five new cases and 64 total.
Mariposa County still had no positive results from its 75 tests, including five pending. Madera County also held steady at 32 cases.
