More coronavirus deaths in the Valley. The patients were from Madera and Tulare counties

Two more COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the central San Joaquin Valley on Friday — in Madera and Tulare counties.

This brings the total to five deaths in the region.

The Madera County Department of Public Health on Friday confirmed the death of a women in her 70s. The woman tested positive on March 25 from what officials believe to be person-to-person contact, and at died at Madera Community Hospital. She suffered from underlying health conditions, according to a new release.

The woman was the second to die from coronavirus in Madera County. Jose Sanchez Barriga , 67, died last week. He was the Valley’s first COVID-19-related death.

A third death in Tulare County

Tulare County reported a third death in that county on Friday, the second death confirmed by The Tulare County Health and Human Serviced Agency in as many days.

The county’s first death was reported last week. That person died after being hospitalized for several weeks.

There are current 81 total positive cases in Tulare County. Another 176 people are under self-quarantine and being monitored by health officials. Four people have recovered.

In Madera County, the county has had a total of 28 cases, including the deceased. The remaining 25 are active, according to the department pf public health. One person has recovered.
