7 new coronavirus cases in Fresno County, 13 total. Tulare, Madera County cases also increase
Seven new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases were reported in Fresno County on Monday evening, bringing the county’s coronavirus cases up to 13.
Of those cases, six were deemed travel-related, two contracted “person-to-person,” and five cases remain under investigation.
No additional information was provided about the new coronavirus cases.
Fresno County Department of Public Health continued to report on its website that, “At this time, there is no identified community spread in Fresno County but the risk to the general public is real. … We urge everyone to practice social distancing and good hand hygiene at all times, and stay home as much as possible to prevent catching or passing on the infection.”
On Saturday, the department’s interim public health officer, Rais Vohra, shared some more coronavirus information in a video, including advice that included, “The minute you develop symptoms, don’t rush to get a test. Rush to go watch TV.”
Earlier in the day, four new cases were announced in Tulare County, and three new cases in Madera County.
Tulare County to the south on Tuesday announced a 17th case. The patient is between the ages of 26 and 40 years old and is in self-isolation at home, health officials said. It’s a travel-related case.
Tulare County also shared an urgent message on Monday.
“It’s more important than ever that our community stays at home and ensures they’re only leaving their homes to access essential services,” wrote Dr. Karen Haught, Tulare County public health officer, in a statement.

- 16 in Tulare County
- 13 in Fresno County
6 in Madera County (including one person who has recovered)
There are more cases in other Valley counties:
- 88 in Sacramento County and 4 deaths
- 51 in San Joaquin County and 2 deaths
- 11 in Kern County
- 10 in Stanislaus County
- 1 in Merced County
There are more than 1,800 coronavirus cases in California and 33 deaths in the state as of Monday, The New York Times reported. The California Department of Public Health is still reporting lower numbers, last updated Sunday.
Nationwide, there was nearly 44,000 coronavirus cases in the U.S. and more than 550 deaths across the country, as of Monday, the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center reported. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has lower numbers.
