Here’s when and where Fresno-area students can get free meals during coronavirus shutdown

The city of Fresno has mostly shut-down.
Schools around Fresno County have canceled classes for at least a month to keep students and staff safe from spreading the novel coronavirus - and Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday said parents should expect schools to remain shuttered much longer, possibly until after summer break.
As our society grapples with an international pandemic, schools are working to ensure students and families in their communities continue to have access to free breakfast and lunch.

Fresno Unified Schools
Fresno Unified has clarified that students can get as many meals as necessary to feed their families. At a news conference on Monday, Superintendent Bob Nelson stressed that this is a fluid situation and that FUSD will be accommodating as changes occur.
Nelson said the district is hoping to have updates on what distance learning will look like for Fresno Unified students. District spokesperson Vanessa Ramirez said they are also creating lesson plans for English as a Second Language students.

On Wednesday Superintendent Nelson released a video updating community members on which schools will be serving free meals. The lowering of school number came about after the City of Fresno announced a “shelter in place” in order to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
Meals will be provided to students and their families on a grab-n-go basis Monday-Friday 9 to 11 a.m. at the following locations:

Teachers are finalizing lesson plans for distance learning. CUSD recommends district members download their app and watch for push notifications on their phones and website for updates from teachers, principals and the district.
Clovis Unified will be offering walk-up or drive-through meal service through at least April 3. Meals are available for anyone in the community under the age of 18. Meal pick up is available from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday – Friday, through April 3:

Central Unified
Central Unified is offering free breakfast and lunch between the hours of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All meals were served outside of the schools’ cafeterias. Meals are for children under the age off 18 and a child must be present in order to pick up a free meal.

Selma Unified will be offering free meals between the time of 11:00 and 1:00. Meals will be provided through April 3, 2020 at the following schools:

In an online announcement Superintendent Robert Frausto informed parents classes will be canceled till April 13. The school district is expected to revisit the topic of school closures closer to the April 13 date and will inform parents if schools will remain closed for a a longer period of time.
Grab-n-Go meals will be available for KUSD students Monday through Friday from 10am through 12pm at the following locations:

Kerman Floyd Elementary School.
Madera Unified
Madera Unified will begin meal distribution on Wednesday for all children under the age of 18. Breakfast and lunch distributions will occur at all elementary school locations from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Meals will be distributed every day Monday through Friday. Updates are being posted on the Madera Unified website and social media.
Boys and Girls Club
Boys and Girls Clubs of Fresno County has indefinitely suspended all operations and services to kids and teens starting Monday. Free meals will continue to be served to club members at all 16 Boys and Girls Club locations. All meals will be on a grab-n-go basis. Club members should contact their club for meal time distribution. For safety reasons no one will be allowed inside the clubs during this time.
If club members or members of the public have any questions they are advised to contact their Club during regular Club hours or call the Administrative office at 559-266-3117.
Early childhood care
For parents seeking early childhood care Matilda Soria Program Coordinator in Early Care and Education at Office of Fresno County Superintendent of Schools suggests families with little ones contact the Central Valley Children Services Network. A private list of child care professionals is updated frequently families should 559-456-8195 for child care.
School health centers
Most schools in Fresno County and state are closed. But what about school health centers? The Bee’s Education Lab compiled a list of school health centers that are open and closed. This list will be continually updated as we get new information.
