Coronavirus cancellations in the Fresno area announced week of March 16
Last week saw a massive disruption in the entertainment industry, with concerts, theater tours and other social gatherings canceled across the country, the state and in the Fresno region due to concerns of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Here is an updated list of affected Fresno-area events for the week of March 16.
Alejandro Fernandez’ May 22 concert at the Save Mart Center has been rescheduled. The Mexican singer will now perform Aug. 2. Ticket will be honored with same seating location will remain the same.
Fresno Arts Council has canceled its monthly ArtHop series for April and May, at least.
ApCal has canceled its March 28 concert with ‘80s rock tributes Pick Your Poison, Motley Crued and Pyromania.
The Selma Craft Beer Festival has been canceled. The event, in its fourth year, was scheduled for April 4 at Pioneer Village. Tickets will be honored for next year’s event.
Good Company Players has postponed its shows at both Roger Rocka’s and 2nd Space Theatre until April, the theater company announced on Monday night. It had finished its run of “Something Rotten” at Roger Rocka’s over the weekend and was scheduled to open “The Kings and I” on Thursday.
That show will now open April 19.
Second Space Theatre will re-open its run of “Enchanted April,” on April 9.
Several upcoming concerts have been canceled or rescheduled at the Tower Theater, including: Aja Vu Stealing Chicago (March 21, rescheduled for Sept. 25), Johnny Rawls (March 26, canceled), John Corabi (March 26, rescheduled for June 5), Justin Kauflin (April 3, no new date announced) and Diablo Ballet (April 18, canceled).
Fresno Art Museum has announced a temporary closure. All on-site tours and public programs are temporarily suspended.
The Convention Center, including Selland Arena and the Saroyan Theatre, has canceled all programming for the immediate future. This includes the San Joaquin Valley Town Hall’s April 15 lecture with CBS news host Jane Pauley.
Puerto Rican pop singer Ozuna has postponed all U.S. tour dates through May. That includes a stop April 23 at the Save Mart Center. New dates will be announced soon. Tickets will be honored on the new date, with refunds available at point of purchase.
PBR rescheduled its Whisky Velocity tour stop at the Save Mart Center. The March 21-22 event will now happen Aug. 22-23. Tickets will be honored on the new date, though refunds are available at point of purchase.
Thursday night’s Tacos, Brews and Jams event at Tioga-Sequoia Brewinfg Company has been canceled. The brewery’s beer garden is only open for to-go sales at this time.
Boys and Girls Clubs of Fresno County has indefinitely suspend all operations and services to kids and teens starting Monday.
“We realize this will have a significant impact on our families and Club members, however we believe this is the best course of action,” president Diane Carbray said in a news release.
Meals will continue to be provided for club members at all 16 club sites on a grab-and-go basis beginning Tuesday. Members should contact their club for meal distribution times.
The California Antique Farm Equipment Show has been canceled. The event was scheduled for April 17-19 at the International Agri-Center in Tulare.
Record Store Day, the annual ode to independent record shops and all things vinyl, has been postponed until June 20. The 13th annual event, which includes a massive amount of new music releases, had been slated for April 18.
The College of Arts and Humanities at Fresno State has canceled the Arts in Motion Showcase week, which was set to begin March 22. All public events, including the March 28 culminating event at the Fresno State Concert Hall, have been canceled.
Big Bounce America, billed as the world’s largest bounce house, has postponed its event at Fresno’s Granite Park. The massive inflatable park was scheduled to open March 21-29. A new date has not yet been chosen.
The California Classic Weekend and Orangetheory Health and Fitness Expo has been canceled for the year. The event, which featured a series of bicycling and running events was scheduled to start April 3.
“The decision to cancel was not taken lightly, after thousands of man hours invested by our many event coordinators and volunteers and you, the participants, in training and planning for that perfect run or bike event,” said director Mike Herman.
While full refunds are not being offered, information on other options for those registered for the event (including a partial refund) is available on the CCW website.
No Surrender Adventure Park and No Surrender Unlimited announced the temporary closure of both locations starting Tuesday. No Adventure Unlimited postponed its grand opening celebration this weekend but was open to the public.
Ani-Me Con has been postponed. The annual anime and cosplay event will now take place May 2-3 at the Fresno Fairgrounds.
