Cutler man arrested, illegal firearms seized after traffic stop, search warrant
A Cutler man was arrested after detectives with the Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium seized more than two dozen illegal firearms during a traffic stop north of Orange Cove.
Cristian Nunez, 31, of Cutler was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail, with bail set at $200,000. Nunez face charges of illegal possession of a modified AR-15 with a device that increases the rate of fire.
According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, MAGEC detectives stopped Nunez on American Avenue, north of Orange Cove, for a vehicle violation Wednesday.
The deputy making the traffic stop saw an AR-15 rifle with a drum magazine on a vehicle seat. An aftermarket insert that increases the rate of fire of the weapon, which is illegal under California law, was also found in his possession.
After the traffic stop, a search warrant was served at Nunez’s home in Cutler in Tulare County. Detectives seized more than 25 illegal firearms from the residence. Nunez is facing numerous additional felony charges.
