Powerball players win big in Northern California. Here’s where tickets were sold
Two Powerball tickets sold in California won $609,497 each, just missing the $549 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The tickets matched five winning numbers but not the Powerball in the drawing held Saturday, Nov. 15, the California State Lottery said.
California adjusts lottery prizes based on the number of tickets sold and number of winners.
Where were winning Powerball tickets sold in California?
Powerball players bought the lucky lottery tickets at Rotten Robbie gas station, 1655 Foxworthy Ave. in San Jose, and One Stop Liquor & Food, 5206 Pacheco Blvd. in Pacheco.
Pacheco is about a 30-mile drive northwest from San Francisco.
Two other tickets sold in California matched four winning numbers and the Powerball to win $30,798 each.
Those tickets were purchased at 7-Eleven, 401 East Alessandro Blvd. in Riverside, and Red Sand Market, 207 W. Anapamu St. in Santa Barbara, California lottery officials told McClatchy News in an email.
A ticket sold in Arizona won $1 million and one sold in Puerto Rico also hit the Power Play multiplier to win $2 million, the national Powerball site said.
What were winning numbers in Nov. 15 drawing?
On Saturday, Nov. 15, the winning numbers were 6, 7, 12, 47 and 53 with a Powerball of 21.
The Power Play multiplier was 4x.
What is the Powerball jackpot up to now?
Nobody won the Powerball jackpot, which rises to an estimated $570 million, with a cash value of about $266.9 million, for the next drawing on Monday, Nov. 17, the national Powerball site said.
Nearly 940,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $200,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last won Sept. 6, when players in Missouri and Texas split the $1.787 billion grand prize.
How to play Powerball lottery game
To score a jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.
The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.
Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.
When is the next Powerball drawing?
Powerball drawings are broadcast Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time and can be streamed online.
The next drawing will be Monday, Nov. 17.
Powerball is played in 45 U.S. states as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
